More comedy! More! This is what I want. Jekyll and James are the ones to present it with their show CACTUS BLACTUS. Opening tonight at Sydney Comedy Festival and I have been waiting FOREVER to get to see them in their very own show.

I’ve known the Jekyll part of this duo for many years and have always found him to be extremely funny in person, I’ve missed shows in Sydney and Melbourne and each time kicked myself when they have received rave reviews. Now it’s time! This Wednesday I shall have the laughs.

Tickets available at the Sydney Comedy Festival website.

Dr Professor Neal Portenza

Very excited to see the new show from the hilarious and crazy Dr Professor Neal Portenza in Sydney tonight. A show where you never know what to expect! The show is called,

I’m very curious to see what antics he has in store this time…. eek! Always fun, always silly and very very entertaining.

A: You’ll (possibly) also love Dr. Professor Neal Portenza? (Comedy is subjective though).

Q: Will there be a real autopsy?

A: No, probably not; it’s just a title, don’t take it too seriously.

Q: How come it says ‘One Night Only’ but there’s more than one night?

A: I thought the title was funny at the time.

Q: Is it safe for kids/families?

A: Sort of…if you don’t mind some swearing and are a ‘cool’ parent, the kids will have fun.

Q: So it’s stand-up comedy?

A: No.

Q: Sketch comedy?

A: No.

Q: Character comedy.

A: Sort of.

Q: What is it then?

So looking forward to seeing this comedy film tonight at it’s Sydney premier in Newtown tonight, The Heckler. A comedy movie for… comedy! I’m really excited to see my friend CJ Fortuna in this movie and some other familiar faces. Read more details for tonight’s special event and the movie below.

Sydney Premiere of Award winning comedy announced.

After a sold-out Melbourne run and success at the LA Comedy Festival, where it won the ‘Best Ensemble’ award, comes the Sydney Premiere of new body-swap film ‘THE HECKLER’.

It marks the feature film debuts of local talents Kate Jenkinson (‘Hiding’, Offspring’, ‘Super Fun Night’), Emily Taheny (‘Mad as Hell’, ‘It’s a Date’, ‘Comedy Inc’) and Simon Mallory (‘Comedy Inc’) and also stars CJ Fortuna (‘Kinne’), Scott Harrison (‘Charlie & Boots’, ‘The Hollowmen’) and Dave Lawson (‘Utopia’) along with a host of comedy performers including Tony Martin and Jeff Green.

Shot on location in Melbourne, THE HECKLER is about a stand-up comedian who has his body hijacked by the spirit of a jealous heckler and must find a way to reclaim it before his career is ruined now that an idiot is in charge.

It marks the feature debut of director Ben Plazzer, after a string of shorts (including Noddy, winner of the 2015 Peninsula Film Festival), and writer Steve Mitchell (The Unusual Suspects, Tropfest 2012).

Described by Hollywood comedy guru Steve Kaplan (author of ‘The Hidden Tools of Comedy’) as A delightfully charming comedy… wonderfully witty! For once an LOL that is really an LOL!” – The LA Comedy Festival is the largest comedy festival in the United States and the filmmakers decided to follow-up the win in LA by hosting event screenings with live stand-up at the main Australian Comedy Festivals: Adelaide, Melbourne and now Sydney.

Co-producer Katrina Fleming (CANOPY) said, “Launching the film through comedy festivals, instead of film festivals, will not only appeal to its target audience, but adds to the experience of watching a film about stand-up comedians.”

The Adelaide and Melbourne screenings sold-out and received four-star reviews. “A mix between King Of Comedy and Freaky Friday, The Heckler is an entertaining film… full of laughs.” – Elizabeth Harnett, The Clothesline.

Kids comedy show on a pirate ship at Sydney Comedy Festival

I’m a grown up. I’m an adult. I am responsible and conduct myself in a mature manner as often as possible. UNTIL I hear that there is a children’s comedy show this Saturday with two of my favourite comedians on a PIRATE SHIP. Then I lose my mind like a five year old who has just spotted Dorothy the Dinosaur at a Wiggles concert.

Harley Breen and Heath Franklin have taken their hilarious comedic stylings and childish ways and combined them to make the most awesome comedy show for KIDS!

It’s to be held at the Sydney Heritage Fleet, on the actual boat. These two larrikins will bring joy to the children, and probably more so their parents, for an hour of fun filled entertainment. So I don’t look like a total looney, I’ll be taking my friend and her three year old son with me. However, I can guarantee I will have the most fun!

Tickets can be purchased at The Sydney Comedy Festival website.

Oh, no! There’s a problem in FuNtOwn!  Sammy the Seagull Has fled with the FunOmatic Fun Wand all the way to WrongTown. Enter our heroes: Captain Fun Pants and his best mate Pirate No Beard. It’s up to the Captain and No Beard to retrieve the fun wand before all the fun has been drained from fuNtOwn forever! But they need your help! Calling all super dooper big boys and girls on a magical adventure.  But you need to brave!  Can you survive the Forest of Farts (pee –yew!) or win a pillow fight to escape Bed Time Island? Join two of Australia’s funniest comedians Harley Breen and Heath Franklin, as they swap late night comedy clubs for late afternoon tents and finally play to an audience their own mental age: children. It’s a FunOrriFic adventure for kids (and pirates) of all ages.

Nikki Britton shines in “The Other 3 Percent” at Sydney comedy Festival

Last night I went to see an amazing show of a performer I love, Nikki Britton in The Other 3 Percent. It was well worth the trip out on a Thursday Night and she’s got two shows left in Sydney for you to check out.

The highlights for me were her musical interludes and showing off her amazing skills in impersonations. The woman has many faces, voices and actions and I loved it all.

Travel was a topic of the show and I loved that! There was also organutans, terrible mountain tales and photos of adorable animals. SOLD! I was in stitches and couldn’t wipe the smile off my face!

Make sure to get along Sydney, Tickets still available at Sydney Comedy Festival website.

Humans share 97% of our DNA with Apes. A frightening statistic for the Apes I imagine.

It has long been understood that we are the most intelligent and evolved animals on earth, but a quick glance around a busy food court, car racing event or department store at Christmas time would seem to prove otherwise. Where did these primates stray from their instincts and can we become more magnanimous Neanderthals again? Join this award winning comedian as she journeys, via Borneo, to the heart of our species and asks, “what makes up The Other 3%?”.

Nikki has recently toured the country with The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase and the juggernaut sensation, 51 Shades of Maggie Muff. Following her highly acclaimed 2013 festival hit, Abdicating Adulthood, Nikki can’t wait to debut her latest and greatest comedy offering yet in Sydney.

“a breathlessly energetic force-of-nature performance that sweeps up all in her path”– Chortle

****½ “well-written, with a stellar combination of pathos, silliness and observational humour to keep it bounding along. Highly recommended!” – Herald Sun
