THE LAZYS TOUR

Following their recent stint in NY, The Lazys are ALL FIRED UP about returning to what they do best, playing live.

Lazys 2014 Web Banner

Taking the opportunity to road test their new material from their forthcoming album ‘ALL FIRED UP’, recorded late last year in New York with producers Gus Van Go and Werner F. (The Grates, Monster Truck, The Stills, Hollerado, The Trews, Priestess), the NSW Central Coast rock 5-piece will undertake a series of pub and club shows throughout NSW from February to April before they head over to North America.

With a reputation for pumping out a kick-arse live show, The Lazys are keen to film a kick-arse live clip for the new single, title track ‘ALL FIRED UP, and would like for their supporters to get actively involved at these shows. The band are asking punters to film ‘ALL FIRED UP from the crowd and send on to the band where footage will be used as the official clip for the song. The band will credit punters names on their Facebook page and tail at the end of the clip for any footage used. Send your clips to the band via their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/thelazys

Catch The Lazy’s live at the following shows and look out for the debut album ‘All Fired Up’ later this year. See tour dates attached.

A bit more about the guys

Shane Nicholson

Shane’s career began with rock band Pretty Violet Stain in the late ‘90’s. After two EP’s and the album
Parachutes & Gravity, Shane began a solo project with 2003’s It’s A Movie, later voted by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Pop Albums of 2004. This was followed in 2006 by Faith And Science. Both albums resulted in extensive touring in both Australia and the USA.

In 2008, Shane and Kasey Chambers released their first collaborative album, Rattlin’ Bones. It debuted at #1, achieved platinum sales, was awarded Best Country Album at the ARIA Awards, an APRA Award for Country Work of the Year, and scored five CMAA Awards, plus two USA Americana nominations for Duo/Group of the Year and Song of the Year.

Shane then released the ARIA-nominated Familiar Ghosts, debuting at #6, before moving into production work, making albums for Catherine Britt, Beccy Cole, Angie Hart, Alex Lloyd and many more. Shane’s 4th solo album Bad Machines debuted at #3 on the ARIA Country Charts, scored 6 Golden Guitar nominations (winning Song of the Year), a Best Country Album ARIA nomination, and the APRA Country Work of the Year award. Shane and Kasey’s second collaborative effort, Wreck & Ruin, debuted at #6 in October 2012, scored 5 CMAA nominations (winning Best Group/Duo) and took them to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. In December 2013, it won the ARIA Award for Best Country Album. 2014 will see Shane continuing work on a new forthcoming solo project, producing albums, and being a dad.

Gregory Page

Songwriter, crooner and modern day minstrel, Gregory Page weaves a magical dreamworld with his extraordinary tales of love and optimistic melancholy – teetering between tradition and progress, history and fantasy. Raised in the USA, Gregory Page was born in North London to Armenian and Irish parents who met while on tour with their bands en route to the Middle East. His mother was a swingin’ jazz singer, and Gregory spent his youth listening to 78s, dreaming of the day he would grow up to become a black American Blues singer like his hero Billie Holiday.

Under the cover of darkness, Gregory escaped to America in September 1976, where he took a series of odd jobs including cab driver and cook, while beginning to tirelessly write and record his own brand of music. A major turning point in Gregory’s musical career came after a friend played him the songs of the original crooner, Al Bowlly.

Currently living in San Diego, he has shared stages with Bob Dylan, Jason Mraz, Judy Collins and Leon Russell, filled 2,000 seat venues in The Netherlands, recorded 20 albums, and has charmed audiences across Australia, his vintage vocals and dusty blues rhymes conjure the dream of simpler times.

“The tightrope my music teeters upon is the struggle between tradition and progress, history and fantasy. I am the songbird & the worm.”
~ G. Page

QUOTES:

“Gregory is a great American songwriter whose work I love.” ~Judy Collins

“Page has really gone and done it. This time he strikes up a band like a jazz cigarette with his terrific new album

‘Shine Shine Shine’.” ~ Jason Mraz

“I love the smell of vinyl in the morning.” ~ Gregory Page

AUSTRALIAN TOUR / ALBUM RELEASE

“…one of those strong, raspy voices that’s only made better by whiskey and more emotive by a sad song. She embodies the storytelling nature of the country genre, that slow burning hurt we know to be true of the blues, and these soulful gospel melodies that recall something almost spiritual.”

Alan Cross – Canadian Radio Broadcaster and Music Journalist

Album-cover copy

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, a small Canadian farming town, KIM WEMPE hit her musical stride after moving to the arts/cultural hub of Nova Scotia in 2008 to complete her Jazz Degree in Voice and record her 2009 award winning debut album Where I Need To Be. Following the much-lauded debut, the sassy Blues/Folk singer/songwriter collaborated with some of Canada’s finest musicians (Joel Plaskett, Old Man Luedecke, Thom Swift & Geoff Hilhorst of Deep Dark Woods) for her 2nd (award nominated) album Painting With Tides.  After four years of touring consistently, including performances at festivals & the Vancouver Olympics, Kim is set to release her third album and hit Australia for her first bunch of shows.

Kim Wempe’s new album Coalition is roots-tinged pop/blues influenced by Americana storytelling and gospel melodies. Produced by Newfoundland soul artist Chris Kirby, the album showcases Wempe’s powerful vocals like never before. Supported by an insistent kick drum, alternative percussion, layered guitars, blues organ, and a gospel choir, Wempe’s smoky voice pulls the weight of every song like an unstoppable train.  Released in Australia on December 7 through Code One/MGM, Coalition features the infectious single Never Promised You Nothing and a heartbreaking duet with Tim Chaisson for The Only One.

Catch Kim Wempe performing on the East Coast in December & January.  Dates attached.

COALITION is out December 7 through Code One/MGM

“That’s the reason why Kim Wempe is going to be huge; she’s got the heart, she’s got the soul and she’s got the kind of voice that holds those who hear it tightly. That voice is magic and no one who hears it will be able to turn away from it.”  Bill Adams – Canadian Music Reviewer / http://www.groundcontrolmag.com/detail/3/3522/
